PRESS RELEASE regarding the closing of the call for large projects within the Programme PA16/RO12 Conservation and Revitalisation of Cultural and Natural Heritage

The Ministry of Culture, through the Project Management Unit, acts as Programme Operator for PA16/RO12 Conservation and Revitalisation of Cultural and Natural Heritage financed through the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2009 – 2014.

The overall objective of the Programme is to contribute to cultural and natural heritage for future generations safeguarded and conserved and made publicly available. It also aims at strengthening bilateral relations between the Donor States – Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein and Romania.

The call for large projects was available from January 6th to April 7th 2014. The total budget of the call for large projects is of 9,821,004 euro, out of which 85% represents the financial contribution of the Donor States and 15% is the co-financing from the national budget.

The Programme Operator has registered 186 projects, the total amount requested being approximately 206 million euro. In this context, the evaluation process was initiated and will be followed by the publication of the final list of projects approved for financing.

Funds are still available within the small grant scheme, in total amount of 1,176,470 euro. The deadline for receiving applications is April 25th 2014.
