Public presentation for interested parties, 30 October 2015

Friday, October 30th 2015, Alba Iulia „Unirii Hall” hosted a public presentation for interested parties regarding the project „MUSEIKON. New Icon Museum revitalizes a restored heritage building in Alba Iulia” financed through EEA Grants. The event was attended by local authorities’ representatives, historians, clerics and prominent cultural figures.

The space where the new Museikon complex will function is a 18th century historical building near the Reunification Cathedral of Alba Iulia, namely the former military hospital building. Among the exhibits of the new complex will be found the oldest icons preserved in Romania, 16th century pieces. Particular attention will be paid to restoring and revitalizing activities, process in which 52 icons and 15 rare books will be revived.
